SBI Denies Entry To A Man In Shorts, Twitter Reacts To The Fashion Policing

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

If anyone were to ask me to give out an alternate career option for the majority of people in this country, apart from suggesting them to become a troll, coming in second hot on that list would be the profession of ‘fashion policing’.

A job that apparently needs no experience or knowledge but just a stereotypical and shallow mindset. One that SBI Bank has known to be equipped with, especially after a perplexed customer posted a tweet on Twitter, citing an incident where he wasn’t allowed to enter the bank, all because he was wearing shorts.

He wrote, “Hey @TheOfficialSBI  went to one of your branch today wearing shorts, was told that I need to come back wearing full pants as the branch expects customers to “maintain decency” Is there some sort of an official policy on what a customer can wear and cannot wear?.”

And honestly, we don’t know what’s worse, the fact that something like this doesn’t just happen to women but also men, or the fact that it happened at all.

Drawing a reaction from a lot of other users who found this not just to be bizarre but also humiliating and out of line, many people ended up suggesting Twitter User to Ashish to sue the State Bank Of India for such unsolicited fashion policing.

Apparantly, I am not the only one who has faced this

Similar incident reported from Pune https://t.co/vaiXA64gtJ@TheOfficialSBI Can you please point me to a dress code for customers?

Ashish then went on to find and report another instance of a similar kind and posted it on the thread that infuriated people even more. One user wrote, “Where was this? Are they running a School or something?”, while another said, “Still a better excuse than ‘Lunch Time Ke Baad Aana’!!”

Still a better excuse than ‘Lunch Time Ke Baad Aana’!!

maybe they were ‘short’ of cash

SBI is The Sanskari Bank of India. You should know this.

Although, it seems like SBI finally stepped in to sort the matter, especially after it gained so much traction online, which is when Twitter user Ashish replied on his own thread to close the matter.

This isn’t the first time someone has tried to fashion police others, there have been several similar cases even with airlines that often end up denying customers their seat in the plane if they don’t cover up.

So much for living in a free, progressive country!
