Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi is the third part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe which started with Ajay Devgn’s Singham, followed up by Singham Returns, and trailed by Ranveer Singh’s Simmba. Well, it’s quite evident Rohit’s cop universe is dominated by men and it would be interesting to see a movie on a female cop as part of his world. It’s not that we haven’t seen a Bollywood actress playing a tough and badass cop but it will be a different game altogether if Rohit gets behind the lens.
In an interview with Indian Express, Rohit had admitted to the fact that he is planning to make a movie on a female cop and it would as large in scale as Singham and Sooryavanshi. He said, “Without a female lead or cop, the universe won’t ever be complete. We are waiting because we all have lost two years of our lives. Today we would be discussing my 17th film, not the 15th. Sooryavanshi was supposed to be released two years ago. I don’t want to make a small film. With a woman at the helm, my film will be at the level of Singham or Sooryavanshi. Till the time I don’t get that kind of a story, I can’t proceed just because there is a demand for a female cop in this universe, and I can understand that. Whenever I make this film, I want to make it into a bigger scale film for sure.”
Now that he has given us a hint, we think these five actresses can nail the part.
1. Samantha Ruth Prabhu View this post on Instagram
Samantha Ruth Prabhu was lauded for her performance as Raji AKA Rajalaxmi, in the Amazon Prime Video web series, The Family Man 2. We have already seen her play the rough and tough character and hence, we think she is the ideal person to play a female cop in Rohit Shetty’s movie.
2. Katrina Kaif View this post on Instagram
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif were seen as special guests in the Sunday, November 7, episode of The Kapil Sharma Show. The actors had appeared on the TV comedy show to promote their recently released film, Sooryavanshi. During the show, Katrina revealed an interesting conversation she had with director Rohit while shooting for Sooryavanshi. She asked Rohit to make a cop drama with a female lead and cast her in it. Considering her fitness levels, she can easily play the part.
3. Lara Dutta View this post on Instagram
Lara Dutta was never seen playing a tough cop in her cinematic career but it was the Disney+ Hotstar series Hundred, in which Dutta Bhupathi plays Saumya Shukla, an assistant commissioner of police in Mumbai, that changed our perception. It will be interesting to see her as an addition to Rohit’s cop universe.
4. Sushmita Sen View this post on Instagram
If you have seen Samay: When Time Strikes, you know Sushmita Sen is just the right person for Rohit Shetty’s next cop drama. From her expressions to her body language, she can totally nail the part and add value to the character.
5. Priyanka Chopra View this post on Instagram
Priyanka Chopra has already played a tough cop in Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal and she did a convincing job as Abha Mathur. Having established herself as one of the best actresses of her generation in Hindi cinema, Priyanka also believes in characters that represent modern Indian women who are strong and independent. It will be interesting to see her play the tough cop.
