I get it, women are tough. There are times when it becomes almost impossible to decipher what they want and getting confused about whether or not she is interested in you is a common dilemma among men. Especially those who have been raised on an unhealthy diet of Bollywood movies that promote chasing a girl until her ‘no’ turns into a ‘yes’ all too often.
But this isn’t a Karan Johar movie guys and chasing after her, relentlessly, won’t make you come across as this big romantic guy, but only a creep who won’t quit.
Which is, while it is important to go after what you want in life and not give up that easily, it is also important to know when to back off. Here are 5 signs it’s time to stop pursuing a woman.
1) She Only Seeks You Out For An Emotional Relationship
No matter how hard you’re trying to get her attention, you seem to only succeed when she is in an emotional rollercoaster and wants someone to be in her corner. Whether it is a fight with a friend or a disagreement at work, she will reach out to you only for emotional support and all the other times, you’ll be on your own.
2) Still Getting Over A Break-up
Take it from Ross and Rachel you guys, no woman who has just gotten out of a relationship will be ready to jump into a new one just yet. And that entire idea of being there for her until she feels ready and lending an ear will only land you in the friendzone. And we all know how there is no coming back from there, is it?
3) She Keeps You At An Arm’s Length
Yes she might ring you up to rant every now and then, even talk about work and her aspirations, but when a woman starts acting like a closed book in front of you, it is usually a big hint to back off. If you feel that she dodges any real conversation with you, about her fears, her past, then it could be that she doesn’t see you in that light to confide in you.
4) It’s Not Going Anywhere
It’s been months, you’ve been consistent about your pursuit for her and you’re probably putting your best foot forward every single day, yet you’re no farther from where you started. Despite trying to have a conversation with her about what you mean to her, you’re stuck with the ‘friend’ tag and chances are, that it isn’t going to change if it hasn’t till now.
5) She’s Said A ‘No’
This is the time when you unlearn every toxic love-lesson that Bollywood has bestowed on you and start taking a ‘no’ as what it is – a f**king no. When she tells you she isn’t into you like that, it doesn’t mean a ‘maybe’ and it sure as hell does not mean for you to try harder. If she likes you, she won’t skip out on the chance to be upfront with you and if she’s not doing that, it’s time to move and invest in someone who will reciprocate your feelings and your efforts. We all deserve to be loved back, after all.
