KKR Fans Describe Remarkable Win As ‘Poetic Justice’, Dedicate Victory To SRK, Aryan Khan

To win a game of cricket, you need nerves of steel and that’s exactly what Rahul Tripathi of  Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showed during their nail-biting Qualifier 2 match against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Like it has been the trend this season, it was yet another low-scoring affair at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium but there was no dearth of excitement and exuberance as neither team was ready to give up and that’s what one expects when a place in the final is at stake.

WHAT. A. FINISH! @KKRiders hold their nerve and seal a thrilling win over the spirited @DelhiCapitals in the #VIVOIPL #Qualifier2 & secure a place in the #Final. #KKRvDC

After their openers got KKR off to a flying start, everybody thought the game was done and dusted but like we have seen on numerous occasions in the past, one spark is enough to cause a fire.

One wicket led to another and KKR were down from 123-1 to 130-7 within a blink of an eye, with Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Sunil Narine and Shakib Al Hasan all getting out for a duck.

#KKR 5 down! @DelhiCapitals are putting up a brave fight. @AnrichNortje02 gets Eoin Morgan out on the final ball of the 19th over. @KKRiders need 7 from the last over. #VIVOIPL | #KKRvDC | #Qualifier2

The match that should’ve been long dead and buried came back to life, thanks to some brilliant death bowling by the Delhi bowlers, especially their two speedsters Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

KKR required seven off the last over and the responsibility of bowling the most important over of Delhi Capitals’ whole campaign fell on veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s shoulders.

And, to be fair, Ashwin did a brilliant job at reading batter’s minds and outfoxed the likes of Shakib and Narine with his variations, giving DC fans a huge belief.

Sensational scenes in Sharjah!

Wicket No. 7 for @DelhiCapitals! @ashwinravi99 gets Shakib & Narine out. #KKR need 6 off 2 balls. #VIVOIPL | #KKRvDC | #Qualifier2

hi INDiA News On The Go...

It felt like the Delhi-based franchise would make their second consecutive IPL final until Rahul Tripathi decided to spoil their party by hitting him for a six down the ground on the penultimate ball of the over.

‘Rahul, naam to suna hoga’ a famous dialogue from Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai began trending online as KKR fans celebrated their remarkable victory in total filmy style.

KKR in the finals. Poetic justice

— Rana Ayyub (@RanaAyyub) October 13, 2021

For them it was not just a victory, they felt like it was ‘poetic justice’, especially after whatever their owner had to endure in the last couple of weeks ever since his son Aryan Khan was arrested on charges of possession of drugs.

Given the circumstances at home, SRK hasn’t cheered on his men from the stands this year but he has always stood behind the team no matter how they fared on the field and fans feel it’s time for the franchise to give him a reason to smile in these difficult times.

Fans feel that is what has motivated the players to play their best cricket.

There is a large group of supporters who follow KKR only because of the Chak De India actor and they were happy to see the players trying everything in their capacity to win the trophy not just for themselves but also their co-owner Shahr Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan.

Can @KKRiders win their third appearance in a final and grab hold of that trophy?

Well, we will find out soon – for now, congratulations #KKR #VIVOIPL | #KKRvDC | #Qualifier2 pic.twitter.com/rBhDVKD9tp

Whatever the inspiration might be, it’s heartening to see a team staging a great comeback in the latter half, exceeding all expectations, and booking a place in the summit clash against three-time champions Chennai Super Kings

KKR have a cent-per cent record when it comes to the finals as they have emerged champions on both occasions they have reached the final and while it won’t be easy against a quality side like CSK, but one thing is for sure and it’s that they’ll give their absolute best to bring the trophy home.
