Hyderabad: For the Ganesh idol immersion on Sunday, all necessary arrangements have been taken up by the State government.
Line departments including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), police, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (TSSPDCL) have arranged men and machinery for a peaceful idol procession and immersion.
As part of the exercise, 215 Ganesh Action Teams (GATs) comprising 8,116 workers have been formed. Each team consists of one sanitary supervisor, a sanitary jawan, three sanitary field assistants and 21 workers. They will be deployed along the 303.3 km procession route and every fvour km of the stretch will have at least one GAT.
Sanitation, inspection of street lights, co-coordination with the police and electricity department are the responsibilities assigned to these teams.
Meanwhile, cranes, boats, swimmers, drinking water camps, electric transformers and illumination are the other arrangements made by the State government. The Urban Bio-diversity wing of GHMC has taken up pruning of trees and the entomology department has taken up fogging in pandals and anti-larval operations in water bodies.
The authorities have also decided to barricade the Hussain Sagar and provide waterproof pandals. This year, 330 cranes will be deployed at lakes, artificial ponds and water bodies in GHMC limits. Among the total cranes, 40 will be deployed around Hussain Sagar.
