Shikhar Dhawan Addresses New Role As India Captain & Emotional Fans Back Gabbar All The Way

Shikhar Dhawan was recently crowned the captain of the second string of the Indian cricket team that will be touring Sri Lanka for three One-Day Internationals and three T20Is and while the move does make sense, many were surprised by the BCCI’s decision to give the leadership to Gabbar.

Nonetheless, it was a pleasant surprise as Dhawan not only happens to be in excellent form thanks to his heroics during the first half of the Indian Premier League but also is the most experienced player in the squad.

However, it was his return to his usual self during the limited-overs series against the touring England squad which reaffirmed the fans’ faith in him.

Additionally, the second-string Team India also allowed veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to ascend to the role of vice-captaincy while newcomers like Devdutta Paddikal, Chetan Sakaria, Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad will also get to wear their first India cap at the highest level of competitive cricket.
