4 Incredibly Underrated Superhero Characters Who Definitely Deserve Their Own Movies

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

Let’s admit it. The recent years have been an absolute joyful ride for fans of the superhero franchises as we have been treated to a plethora of exciting and fresh superhero characters, some of whom we’d never even heard before.

That’s right!

For every popular character like Batman, Superman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and co, there are plenty of characters we’d never know much about had it not been for the movies. Unless, of course, if you are an avid comic book reader or have followed animated shows religiously in the past.

The fact remains that while you may have cried a river when Tony Stark gave his life away to save all of us from Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, you may not have felt the same emotion had a comparatively less important character been killed in the movies. (*cough* QuickSilver *cough*)

However, unlike how things are always portrayed in movies, there are plenty of amazing superheroes, who while not being so popular on the big screen, have all the firepower to hold their own.

Hence, we have made a list of the most underrated superhero characters that definitely need their own standalone films to show exactly what they are capable of:

1. Cyclops

Yeah? The goggles guy standing next to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine? The jealous boyfriend of Jean Grey in the X-Men movies? Why should you bother, right?

Wrong!

Unlike how the character of Cyclops AKA Scott Summers is shown in the Bryan Singer X-Men movies, in the comic books and animated television series, he is anything but just a whining, jealous boyfriend.

Cyclops is an Alpha-Level mutant who shoots powerful optic blasts out of his eyes, which is exactly the reason why he sports his trademark visor to control it. It is said that his optic blasts are even more powerful than an actual nuclear bomb.

Not just that, Cyclops, who has spent much of his career being the leader of X-Men or the X-Factor, boasts of extensive training in martial arts and has even been called the best strategist and tactician by your beloved Captain America, Steve Rogers.

Pretty sure we haven’t seen any of this in the movies, where the character of Scott Summers is just considered as an extra cast member to fill up the Xavier Mansion.

Now, we know why he needs more screen time in a movie of his own.

2. Robin

We know you know him. We know you like him. But the real question is, have you ever really seen him?

The answer is No, and Yes.

I mean, if you count seeing Chris O’Donnell’s portrayal as Batman’s number one deputy in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin (Batnipples), well then, yes, you might have seen him.

However, of what we know of DC’s Robin, he is worth much more than just a tiny blip on the Bat-radar.

If Batman, who doesn’t even like working together with the Justice League, lets Robin be his number one partner in crime, you have to really believe that the kid must have something in him.

While Robin is similar to Batman in not possessing any superhuman powers, it is his physical conditioning that makes him perfect for jumping buildings, overpowering criminals twice the size of him, and matching up to the task of meeting Batman’s expectations.

Apart from enhanced speed, reflexes, stamina that make him physically superior to an actual Olympic athlete, Robin is a master detective, possesses a genius intellect, while also being a master combatant, tactician, and weapons specialist.

Moreover, other than being a part of the Bat-Family, he is also the leader of the Teen Titans.

Now, while in the Batman universe, there have been four Robins: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Batman’s own son Damian Wayne, at least we can hope for one of them to get his own superhero movie to show that it’s not just about Batman.

3. Silver Surfer

If you have seen 2007’s Fantastic Four 2 film, you might have come across a silvery character who marauds around between different worlds on a flying board, against the wishes of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing.

Well, while the movie was quickly forgotten amongst a pile of other films locked up in the 2000s vault, we cannot fathom the fact that Marvel never truly took advantage of bringing the Silver Surfer to the fold.

Yes, the Silver Surfer has long been one of the most important characters in the Marvel universe, be it the comics or the animated shows.

He is considered to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe with his powers seen to not just match, but exceed those of Thanos.

The Surfer, apart from having the ability to manipulate the four fundamental forces of the universe, possesses physical strength to that of an angry Hulk, while also being able to fly intergalactically at superluminal speeds.

Now, imagine seeing all of that in an MCU movie. Wouldn’t that be absolute nuts? This is the reason why Marvel’s Kevin Feige should contact Silver Surfer right now and get him on board.

4. Gambit

Gambit is one of the most iconic and charismatic characters in the X-Men world under the Marvel universe.

Distinct for his Cajun accent and for sporting a long bo staff and a deck of cards in hands, Gambit is one of the most mysterious and incredibly likeable characters, who we’ve unfortunately not seen much of.

I mean, there have been what, 13 X-Men movies (give or take), and we’ve just seen him in one (I know, difficult to remember, right?), the Wolverine: Origins movie, where he literally just gets his ass kicked by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine only to pick and drop him.

I mean come on! Gambit is an almost Omega-Level mutant who has the ability to mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy as per his will. Apart from that, he also has gifted intellect, is a master marksman, a profound fighter, and super skilled in card throwing.

Truly he deserves more than just a cameo as an awful sidekick in a movie that ruined Ryan Reynolds. Now, if Deadpool can make a comeback, why not Gambit?
