Pictures for Purpose print sale fundraiser goes international for a global cause

BUY-SELL | HELP WANTED | MATRIMONIAL

Foundation Pictures for Purpose is pleased to announce its second print sale fundraiser, featuring works by 36 international artists. After a successful inaugural edition in 2020, which raised over €200,000 in just two weeks for the Dutch Foodbank and the participating artists, the second edition will run from 7 June – 21 June 2021.

This new edition seeks to generate valuable channels of support for another pressing global cause: the climate crisis. In collaboration with Justdiggit, who is a partner of the United Nations Environment Programme, Pictures for Purpose hopes to spotlight the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be shared between Justdiggit, an organization combating climate change with grassroots organizations in East Africa, and the participating artists themselves, to account for lost revenue during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. For two weeks, works by a host of international artists will be available for €125. The fundraiser offers a unique range of established names and emerging talent from across the globe, including works by Dana Lixenberg (NL), Jack Davison (UK), Melanie Bonajo (NL), Gregory Halpern (US), Min Hyunwoo (KR), Joana Choumali (CI) and Hashem Shakeri (IR).

The United Nations General Assembly has declared the years 2021 to 2030 as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations – with the support of partners like Justdiggit – it is designed to prevent, halt and reverse the loss and degradation of ecosystems worldwide.

Justdiggit is committed to reviving lost ecosystems, with an emphasis on regreening millions of hectares of land where vegetation is threatened by climate change. A global call to action, the UN decade draws together political support, scientific research, and financial muscle to massively scale up restoration. Visit www.decadeonrestoration.org and www.justdiggit.org to learn more.

As before, the participating artists – who themselves have lost valuable streams of income in recent months – may opt to receive a proportion of proceeds from the sale of their works. In each case, a minimum of 50% of the proceeds are donated to Justdiggit.
