PASSAIC, NJK- A Passaic County man was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash on Route 46 west in Clifton, authorities said.
Dharmesh H. Patel, 35, of Clifton, was walking across the highway when he was struck at 12:17 a.m. near Rock Hill Road, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and city police Chief Thomas Rinaldi.
The driver fled the scene and Patel was then struck by another car. The driver of the second car, a 52-year-old man from New Brunswick, pulled over and remained at the scene, police said.
Patel was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 a.m., according to Valdes and Rinaldi.
