CHICAGO, IL – Federation of Indian Associations Chicago (FIA) met honorable Consul General Mr. Amit Kumar. President Raj Patel, Executive VP Hemant Patel, VP Amar Upadhyay, VP Tribhuvan Gaur, and a long-time trustee Hina Trivedi introduced FIA and shared the history of FIA. They highlighted past events and talked about future plans.
Mr. Amit Kumar appealed Indian diaspora to unite; forgetting caste and religion. He raised concerns about Indian communities’ low voting record in the American election. He said it is catastrophic. All Indian leaders should encourage the Indian diaspora to vote and participate in the American election process.
Mr. Amit Kumar also raised his concerns about the anti-CAA Resolution R2020-583 being introduced in the city council. He is surprised that the city council never approached him about the CAA before introducing it to the council. He has reached out to the city councils and presented his views. He appealed to the Indian diaspora to reach out to the City councils.
FIA on behalf of the Indian Community of Chicago appreciates Mr. Kumar’s time, his active engagement with the community, and his advice.
