CHICAGO, IL — In the first six weeks of Kevin Olickal’s campaign for state representative, he managed to raise over $116,000 without receiving a single dollar from a corporate lobbyist or corporate PAC. Additionally former Alderman and Gubernatorial candidate Amyea Pawar,

Asian American Midwest Progressives, IADO (Indian American Democratic Organization), and local D-73.5 School Board Member Bursha Amiwala, the youngest muslim elected offical in the country, and D-219 School Board Members Jill Manrique, and Rebecca Abraham have all endorsed Kevin’s Olickal’s bid for State Representative.

Ameya Pawar said, “Kevin Olickal has demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of working families. More than ever, we need elected leaders who will fight for issues like medicare for all and fully funding education.” He continued,”I call on others to support progressive candidates like Kevin.”

Olickal said “Families in the 16th District deserve a government that answers to the voters – not wealthy and powerful special interests. I’m running for State Representative to fight for affordable housing, quality health care for all, fair wages, strong protections for reproductive rights, expanding union bargaining rights, and common-sense gun safety laws”. He continued “I will be a reliable progressive voice in Springfield and fight for policies that benefit working and
middle-class families across Illinois.” Kevin Olickal is a lifelong resident of Skokie and a proud alumnus of Skokie Public Schools and Niles North High School. After earning a Bachelor of Science at The Ohio State University, he returned home to Illinois to build a career in public service. He’s served as a staffer to several state and local officials, and most recently served as Executive Director of the Indo-American Democratic Organization.
