CM Thackeray to shift from ‘Matoshri’ to ‘Varsha’ soon
Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS) Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will soon shift from ‘Matoshri’, his private residence in suburban Bandra, to the posh ‘Varsha’ bungalow at Malabar Hill in south Mumbai, officials said.
A notification to this effect was issued by the state government here on Monday, scotching all speculation in this regard.
"Yes, that’s correct. However, a suitable date when the CM will shift has not yet been decided and will be soon," a Shiv Sena leader told IANS.
Tentatively, it is likely Thackeray may move home from Bandra to Malabar Hill on January 23, which will be the 94th birth anniversary of his father and Sena founder, the late Balasaheb Thackeray, he said.
It maybe recalled that IANS had highlighted the issue on November 29, a day after Thackeray was sworn-in as the Chief Minister at Shivaji Park, along with six other ministers from the Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
As per the notification, former Chief Minister and the new Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis has been advised to vacate ‘Varsha’ within 15 days for the new CM.
Fadnavis has now been allotted ‘Sagar’ bungalow at Malabar Hill, the notification said.
Besides, other bungalows have been allotted to Minister Chhagan Bhujbal (‘Ramtek’), Jayant Patil (‘Sevasadan’) and Eknath Shinde (‘Royalstone’), and allotments for other three MVA ministers is expected shortly.
