Vala sworn-in as Karnataka governor

Bangalore, Sep 1 (IANS) Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala took over as Karnataka governor on Monday."Vala took oath in Hindi in the name of god. He was sworn-in by Karnataka High Court Chief Justice D.H. Eight core industries grow 2.7 percent in July

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS) Eight core industries such as coal, electricity, crude oil, cement and steel, grew 2.7 percent in July this year, compared to 5.3 percent during the corresponding month of last year, official data showed on Thursday.The index of eight core industries having a combined weight of 37.90 percent in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2004-05 stood at 163.9 in the month under review, the ministry of commerce and industry said in a statement.
